The constraint that shaped the project

The association's advantage is critical mass. A thousand beds presented together carry more weight than twenty properties pitching separately: in search, with group organisers, and in the perception of someone deciding where to go. The portal exists to make that sum visible, which otherwise stays a figure only the members know.

The part you do not see

A trade portal has a delicate balance to keep: it has to give everyone visibility without becoming a flat list where nobody stands out. If the order is random the members notice; if it is alphabetical, whoever picked their name well wins. Whatever criterion is adopted has to be stated, because in an association the perception of fairness counts as much as the results — and a member who feels penalised stops updating their listing.
