Sermetra Group – case study

Sermetra Group is the corporate site of a holding company made up of several businesses. The job of a site like this is not to sell a product but to make it clear, quickly, how the group is put together and how its parts fit.

The constraint that shaped the project

Here the challenge is information architecture more than code. Many entities to present — subsidiaries, areas of activity, solutions — without losing the visitor along the way. People arriving on a holding company's site usually have a question that is precise and vague at the same time: "what do they actually do". If they have no answer after thirty seconds, they leave with the impression that the group is confused, not the website.

How it works

The part you do not see

A group site ages in a particular way: companies change, get added, get renamed. The structure has to be built so that a new entry is a record to fill in rather than a page to design from scratch — otherwise the first significant update becomes the moment the site stops being updated.
