La Nuova Guida is the management system a driving school uses to hold together the three things that usually live in separate tools: teaching, licence paperwork and administration.

The constraint that shaped the project

The same student appears in all three worlds. They enrol on a course, open a file with the motor vehicle authority, pay in instalments: if the three systems do not talk, their name gets typed three times and from that moment three versions of the same person exist, which sooner or later diverge. The project exists to prevent that, not to add features.

How it works

• Teaching and course management, with attendance tied to the student rather than to a separate sheet.
• Licence paperwork followed through the whole process, each file with its own status and deadlines.
• A student register as the single source of truth.
• Payments and account balance per student, so the front desk can answer "how much is still owed" straight away.

The part you do not see

A system like this is judged on one thing: how often the operator has to retype something the system already knows. It is a trivial measure to state and a hard one to honour, because every new feature brings the temptation of one more free-text field — and every free-text field is data nobody will ever be able to cross-reference again.
